Bringing Business To Businesses
Experience the Northeast Kingdom is a project designed to foster business development throughout the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The project, devoted to business development, provides an inexpensive and effective means of advertising for a variety of businesses in the area.
Experience the Northeast Kingdom includes a website, where businesses may advertise, along with other marketing efforts designed to drive traffic to the project's website and business to businesses. Experience the Northeast Kingdom lists more than 150 businesses located in the Northeastern corner of Vermont, including hotels, motels, restaurants, rental agencies, shops, campgrounds, maple sugar houses, horse stables and much more.
For web surfers, the website provides a directory of information, photos, special events, local news and even the weather. For businesses, the project is an advertising platform on the Internet.
We're a Part of the Social Media
Twitter on Experience the Northeast Kingdom, a project designed by Marcia Horne, Marketing Consulting located in Newport, VT
With more than 450 followers, Experience the Northeast Kingdom has a presence on Twitter that has been very helpful to business owners and the Northeast Kingdom.
We've reached out to the Audubon Society, the AARP and a number of organizations through this media network.
As a business owner, you may not have built a successful Twitter thus far. Well, my advice is to consider Experience the Northeast Kingdom for a presence in a social media network that has shown itself to be an effective tool for individual businesses through this project.
We're On TV!
What is the key to this project's success? Experience the Northeast Kingdom advertises on TV, and, in doing so, we're reaching the broader market.
The project has aired commercials on ABC's Good Morning America, CNBC's Market Watch and Closing Bell, ESPN's Red Sox in Two and the Fox Evening News Hour, along with a variety of other stations and shows, thus far, in Massachusetts and Vermont.
This concept began the summer of 2010 when I drove past the North Beach of Lake Willoughby in Westmore.
It was a sunny, warm Saturday in July. There were only a few people enjoying, perhaps, one of the most scenic vistas I've seen in New England. Certainly Lake Willoughby is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in America, well known and publicized.
There clearly wasn't the marketing effort in place to properly present Lake Willoughby, or the many other beautiful lakes, mountains and so much more in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.
I built a website, approached many businesses, who, with their faith and trust, advertised, giving this concept a chance. I produced and aired two commercials, one for that winter and another for the summer that was funded by the projects own advertising revenue.
Within its first year, Experience the Northeast Kingdom advertised in two states and reached many through TV commercial advertising.
The transformation from one summer to the next was dramatic. In Westmore and Island Pond there were an influx of vacationers, though many other areas have clearly benefited throughout the year.
One year later at North Beach on Lake Willoughby I witnessed bumper to bumper traffic and well over 150 people on the beach. South Beach was also packed with visitors and campers.
In the winter, the VAST Trail gained exposure and interest. The weather wasn't especially helpful last during the winter of 2011-2012, though, we managed to present the project during the primary election on Super Tuesday via TV commercial during the ABC 6pm Evening News, aired commercials frequently that spring and into the summer. The project was born.

It's Just $10 per Month!
Businesses may advertise for just $10 per month. Furthermore, businesses do not have to be a member of a chamber of commerce or any other organization, public or private.
I am truly pleased with results so far this year. Experience the Northeast Kingdom has just weathered the very worst month of the year in terms of visitation and stats with over 10,000 visitors to the website for the month of November.
For 2017, Experience the Northeast Kingdom has not had less than 10,000 visitors to the website in any given month- a first for the project. This year's stats clearly show an overall long term trend of growth for the project.
Also- make note of September. There is a September tourist market that this project and many others may be reaching. The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, little known in years past, is becoming a focal point for sports and nature enthusiasts.

So-What's Going On?
Well, the first week of March 2015, Experience the Northeast Kingdom went mobile!
The website now renders on the Iphone and the smallest of Internet devices with usability in mind. Check us out on your mobile device. We're dynamic, easy to read and navigate.
In April, 2015 the hosting of the website was improved to accompany the heavy visitation. Hosting, as of April 2015, includes "Advanced Routing" that allows visitors to retrieve the website from other visitors. Those of you that are computer savvy might especially understand that the website is now well poised to accompany heavy traffic.
What "Advanced Routing" doesn't do is count every visitor to the website. The stats to the left are a count of retrievals from the root folder of the website and do not include those who visit the website with the help of "Advanced Routing"..
So, how many visitors are actually visiting the website since April 2015? I don't know. No one can know.
That's the one drawback of "Advanced Routing". It's fantastic for heavily visited websites, though no total counting of visitation is available.
While the above demographics are derived from Experience the Northeast Kingdom's website, they are only a suggestion of what might actually be the case at any given point. As the above charts are from Google Analytics, the percentages are from those visitors who found the website on Google during a brief period.
